Q1: With the number of candidates on the ballot for district 2, can we achieve a majority of will there be a runoff election?
With the number of candidates running, no one is likely to get 50% plus one vote; therefore it is highly likely there will be a runoff.
Q2: Other than the District 2 County supervisor, what other representation is there for the various demographic entities within the district, I.e., El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park, Agriculture, Rural?
Each of the Supervisorial districts has representatives on dozens of commissions, councils and advisory committees. The County’s website www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/bos/commissions/master.afp has a complete list. In addition there is representation on LAFCO ( www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/lafco/Directory.html ) and numerous other wider area bodies.
Q3a: EID (El Dorado Irrigation district) his just lost a court case regarding the construction of a water diversion tunnel. This tunnel, being defective, must be rebuilt. How will this affect our future water rates?
The case is being reviewed on appeal by the Court. If EID prevails, the cost could be zero. If it does not, it will have to bear the costs of reconstruction, which could be in the millions.
Q3b: The Planning Department has placed such strong regulations on cutting oak trees on current lands that owners [who] wish to build on that [find it] cost prohibitive to build at all. What should the County allow?
The County has taken too many of our property rights already. I believe their decisions are not based on good science. Even their formulas for mitigation are still being debated. Unless and until there is good and reliable information available, we will continue to be led in circles. Strong leadership in this issue could save countless lost dollars and time.
